A failsafe is a passive system in the ship that activates as a backup. If another system is destroyed (say a shield system) the failsafe kicks in to recreate the system. In case of this, the failsafe would then become a shield system.

In case of this, the failsafe would then become a shield system. This behavior can be immediately curtailed by destroying something else at which point it will switch functions again.

A failsafe is a passive system in the ship that activates as a backup. If another system is destroyed (say a shield system) the failsafe kicks in to recreate the system. In case of this, the failsafe would then become a shield system. This behavior can be immediately curtailed by destroying something else at which point it will switch functions again.
